50 Years of Tradition
From Then to Now

Sorrento’s Restaurant began with a simple desire of a man wanting to move his family from the hectic life of a big city to a simpler life in the country. In 1973, Vince Palazzolo, a successful owner of several pizza restaurants in Chicago, wanted to move his wife and four children out of Chicago. Looking in a newspaper, Vince found a restaurant listed for sale in Maple Park, IL by a man by the name of Ozzie Kendall. Ozzie was the owner of the restaurant named Kendall’s Ranch located in the middle of a corn field. Although its location was away from any major city, Kendall’s Ranch had a very loyal following for over 30 years. Ozzie, however, was ready to get out of the restaurant business and move to Alaska. The two men and a member of the local bank got together for a meeting and after a few handshakes and no paperwork, a deal was made. Kendall’s Ranch became Sorrento’s Ranch on August 22, 1974.

Throughout the next 50 years many other restaurants have opened and closed and tastes of the consumer have changed, but Sorrento’s Restaurant has remained open throughout it all. We have you, the customers, to thank for that. Because of that, we pledge to continue doing what we have done for so many years. Sorrento’s Restaurant believes in giving our customers a great meal at a great price and we will continue that pledge.

You can read about the entire history of the buildings from its humble beginnings as a gas station in the 1920’s to the Sorrento’s of today.
